South Somerset Together is a local strategic partnership made up of a range of organisations that deliver services in your community, that work together to make things happen. A member of the Board of the South Somerset Together (SST) has urged other SST member organisations to "stop pussyfooting around" when it comes to thinking about what local organisations can do to tackle climate change. Joe Burlington, Chairman of South Somerset Climate Action and a member of the Somerset Strategic Partnership Environmental Leaders Group, delivered this challenge to a recent meeting of the Board.

An innovative new scheme has helped six local people in South Somerset into one-year apprenticeships with voluntary and community organisations. The apprenticeships are designed to help adults back into employment who do not currently work, but who don't satisfy all of the criteria of the definition of unemployment, for example, because of family responsibilities or early retirement.

Health projects look set for a kick-start this month as a South Somerset District Council-led Healthy Living fund opens its doors for new grant applications. Over the past year, nine new and exciting healthy living projects were given funding and the Health and Wellbeing Partnership - which involves South Somerset District Council, Somerset Primary Care Trust and Somerset County Council - is now inviting more groups and projects to get in touch.
