It exists to lead and improve the delivery of services by setting shared objectives, bringing about change that will meet the social, economic, environmental, educational, health and safety needs of the communities within South Somerset.
South Somerset Together is one of a number of local strategic partnerships set up across the United Kingdom whose role is to listen to and act on the views of local communities.
Partnership members come from a range of public, private, business, community and voluntary sectors, who work together to ensure that local communities get the services and opportunities they need.
The LSP is an unincorporated association and a non-statutory and non-executive body. It is not a separate legal entity. South Somerset District Council is the lead authority responsible for entering into any contractual arrangements on behalf of the partnership, where necessary. The partnership has an independently appointed Chairman and Coordinator.
