Meetings
Information about the different meetings
LSP Board Meetings
The LSP Board is made up of representatives from a range of public, private and voluntary sector organisations. They bring to the LSP a wealth of professional and personal knowledge, skills and expertise. They act as a conduit between their own organisation (and what they do on a day-to-day basis) and the LSP (and what partners are doing together to deliver the Sustainable Community Strategy). Their knowledge extends to having a sound understanding of what the issues are at a neighbourhood and local level and what needs to be considered at a higher/strategic level to change and improve that.
The Board meets every two months usually on the last Friday in the month. The meetings are open to everyone and there are opportunities for the public to make comments or raise issues. The content is varied because there are reports on projects and programmes, presentations by Partners and the LSP sub-groups and discussions around key issues. There is a break about 10:30 for about 15 minutes and all present including visitors are welcome to have a cup of tea or coffee, meet the Chairman and Partners and chat informally about concerns. For further information contact the LSP Coordinator at lsp@southsomerset.gov.uk
LSP Annual General Meeting
Once a year in June, the LSP hosts an open event to discuss with the public its achievements over the last year, progress against the Sustainable Community Strategy and important issues, including sustainability. The LSP produces an Annual Report that sets out all this information in a clear document and there is an opportunity for visitors to ask questions and discuss in open forum any matters relating to the work of the LSP. For details of the next AGM please see the Events page or contact the LSP Coordinator at lsp@southsomerset.gov.uk
Working Group
This group of representatives (from public, private and voluntary sector organisations) meet every two months to discuss the LSP's governance structures and processes including monitoring the LSP's Self-Assessment Action Plan, Equality Impact Assessment Action Plan and Communications Strategy, among other things. The Working Group played a key role in reviewing the proposals put forward by the general public and organisations in response to the Government's invitation through the Sustainable Communities Act 2007, to outline areas where a change in legislation could help make communities more sustainable. They came up with a list of six proposals that were considered and voted on by members of the South Somerset Citizen's Panel. SSDC approved the four top proposals that were then submitted to the Local Government Agency (LGA) by 31st July 2009.
Performance Monitoring Sub-Committee
This small group of representatives carry out the important work of making sure that the work the LSP has commissioned Partners to do, is not only carried out but achieves its objectives, by the deadline and where applicable, in budget. The Performance Monitoring Sub-Committee looks at the details of performance/delivery, risk and finance for the LSP Board, raising that body's awareness of issues as necessary. The group also looks closely at the way the actions in the Sustainable Community Strategy are being delivered to ensure the elements of sustainability and equality are carefully considered, monitored and addressed.
